About
The Global Compact Network Tanzania (GCNT) is the local network chapter of the United Nations Global Compact, which supports Tanzanian signatories (both Tanzanian firms and subsidiaries of global signatories) in the implementation of the Ten Principles, while facilitating and creating opportunities for multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The Global Compact Network Tanzania acts in accordance with the UN Global Compact’s principles and objectives. The GCNT holds a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN Global Compact and reports regularly on its objectives, activities and initiatives. The GCNT is incorporated as not-for-profit organization. It is self-governing with a Board of Directors, and a Steering Committee.

A responsible and ethical society dedicated towards the sustainable use of natural resources, improving livelihoods and equitable economic growth.
MISSION
To champion a coordinated effort in supporting businesses and non-businesses to align their strategies and operations with the ten globally recognised principles of the UNGC in the areas of Human Rights, labour, Environment and Anti-corruption.
WHY GCNT
Global Compact Local Network Tanzania supporting both local firms and subsidiaries of multinational corporations in implementing the UN Global Compact Ten Principles and meeting the annual reporting requirement. The networks help companies to identify sustainability challenges and opportunities; provide practical guidance for action; and promote action in support of broader UN goals. Local Network activities are based on local priorities and needs.
They range from corporate sustainability seminars, reporting trainings, issue-specific workshops, country-based consultations and policy dialogue to collective action projects, partnerships, networking events, local newsletters and awards.
