About
The Institut Français d'Indonésie or Institut Français Indonesia is an Institut français in Indonesia. It is a French public institution attached to the French Foreign Ministry. The promotion of French culture and language overseas is its main mission. Its main location is in Jakarta.
The French Institute of Indonesia (IFI) is in charge of all cooperation and cultural action between France and Indonesia. It was born from the merger of the cultural services of embassies (SCAC) and cultural centers (CCF). The challenge of the reform of the French cultural network abroad consisted, alongside the century-old associative network of the Alliances Françaises, in the establishment of unique, more visible systems, grouped under a single brand (French Institute), equipped with financial autonomy allowing it to benefit from greater management flexibility over all of its cultural, linguistic and academic skills.
The Institut français claims freedom of expression and diversity in a context of globalization, while affirming its competence and expertise in promoting French culture in the world. It is a tool of influence and cooperation, and a center of expertise and advice.
