About

Created on January 4, 1994 and legalized on June 30, 1995 the African Centre for Applied Forestry Research and Development (CARFAD) is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) under the Cameroonian law. It is non-profit oriented, specialized in applied forestry research and sustainable development, and headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

First known as Agro Nature Protection (ANP), the association changed its name in April 4, 1998 to become African Centre for Applied Forestry Research and Development (CARFAD).

On October 04 2007, CARFAD was accredited to carry out impact studies and environmental audits by the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development of Cameroon.

The organization was established to contribute through research action to sustainable development of Cameroon and Africa.
Its effectiveness lies in its multidisciplinary members including among others engineers, managers, horticulturists, anthropologists, sociologists, geographers and environmental managers among which we can add international experts with recognized competences.
