College of Health Technology (CHT)

The College of Health Technology, Calabar, started as the Institute of Public Health in the later part of 1970, using the Diamond Health Center, Diamond Hill, as its temporary site. During this period, twenty one (21) School Health Attendants, and five (5) Community Nursing students were admitted for training. Early in 1971, the Institute moved to No. 2 Hawkins Road, Calabar, yet another temporary accommodation. Other cadres of Health Personnel trained at this College were Rural Health Assistants and Leprosy Attendants. The College moved to its permanent site at Mary Slessor Avenue in 1975.
