About
DPI was founded by a team of committed international development professionals who have extensive global experience in democracy and governance programs. DPI professionals have over 40 years of collective experience in managing, designing and evaluating international development programs globally.
Our consultants have implemented and managed programs from the field and headquarters’ offices; served as democracy and rule of law trainers for USAID, Department of State, Department of Defense, UNDP, other donors, and the private sector; and worked or collaborated directly with major donors, including USAID, the Department of State, DFID, and UNDP. We have a global view of best practices and lessons learned in international development programs.
DPI’s primary area of technical expertise is in democracy and governance and the rule of law. DPI incorporates a holistic approach that emphasizes the link between rule of law and democratic development, with particular attention to empowering poor and vulnerable groups. Members of our team have held key positions such as USAID Democracy Specialists, USAID Rule of Law Advisors, and as Directors of Democracy and Governance, and Rule of Law departments of current international development implementers. We have successfully managed portfolios in excess of 150 million dollars in government funding and overseen the simultaneous administration of several offices in diverse regions of the world. We also have extensive experience in peace-building in South-East Asia, Central Africa, and West Africa, developing programs that include: new media and social networking, civil society capacity building, advocacy, access to justice, anti-corruption, combating gender based violence, mediation, and conflict mitigation.
