Timely Integrated Development Services (TIDES)

Timely Integrated Development Services (TIDES) is our new name for the erstwhile organisation known as Somali Young Students Association (SYSA). The world famous fiction youth character Romeo in Shakespeare’s play once asked “What is in a name?” For some years, we too, thought our initial name was good enough. But after a careful strategic plan, we redefined our identity and focus as an organisation.TIDES founders hold the belief that with unity of purpose, bloodshed, drought, floods, abuse of rights, poor leadership, drug abuse and a host of challenges which make Somalia inhabitable can be brought to manageable levels. TIDES encapsulates this spirit of developing resilience. This new strategy follows much dialogue, candid talk and identification of focal problems which plague Somalia.The intervention focus of TIDES include emergency humanitarian relief, food security, education, health, water and sanitation, community based rehabilitation of disabled people, support to people infected and affected by HIV, environment conservation especially through reforestation, peace building, protection and particularly awareness and advocacy on women and child rights
