About

Institute of Ecology and Building Protection (WIP) was established on June 8, 2012, under Decision No. 1368/QD-BNN-TCCB of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Institute of Ecology and Works Protection (WIP) was established on June 8, 2012, according to Decision No. 1368/QD-BNN-TCCB of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The predecessor of the Institute is the Research Center for Termite Control, established in 1987. The Institute of Ecology and Construction Protection has its own account and seal. The Institute's headquarters is at 267 Chua Boc, Dong Da, Hanoi

The Institute of Ecology and Protection of Works is an agency for basic, technological and applied research in many fields of Natural Science. The Institute has been chairing and participating in many scientific research projects at the State, ministerial and provincial levels, scientific research contracts in service of production and application of scientific advances in practice. With the motto of constantly updating new research directions in the world, the Institute is now one of the prestigious agencies in many research fields. From basic biological and ecological research directions, the Institute has expanded to new strategic research directions and achieved certain successes. The strategic research directions of the Institute can be mentioned as follows:

1. Biological Resources, Biodiversity and Environmental Protection

- Biodiversity research;

- Research on biological resources;

- Environmental monitoring, biodiversity monitoring;

- Application of remote sensing technology and agent information system (GIS) in biodiversity research;

- Research and forecast changes in environment, geography, biological resources, and other impacts affecting natural resources, environment and biodiversity;

- Environmental impact assessment, Strategic environmental impact assessment;

- Testing and technical analysis Measuring environmental indicators, air and water pollution;

- Applying biological and chemical technologies to treat polluted water sources;

2. Ecological measures to protect sea dykes

- Planting trees to break waves, create alluvial grounds, protect dykes and coastal land strips;

- Planting trees to block flying sand and flowing sand, protecting dykes on sandy areas and stabilizing sand dunes;

- Provide breakwater measures to protect sea dykes and coastal land strips, against flying sand and flowing sand;

3. Ecological measures to protect the reservoir

- Solutions to conserve and restore watershed ecosystems to maintain water sources to the lake;

- The relationship between the ecosystem and the water reservoir system in water resource planning; solutions to ensure safety and improve the efficiency of water reservoirs;

- Renovating water reservoirs into ecological lakes serving multiple purposes; measures to limit sedimentation in the lake bed;

4. Research on prevention of termites and harmful organisms

- Researching science and technology in the field of termite control, protection of irrigation works, hydropower plants and construction works;

- Termite science and technology to prevent termites and harmful organisms;

- Selection and propagation of microorganisms causing diseases for termites and harmful organisms;

- Application and production of biological products to prevent termites and harmful organisms;

5. Detect and handle hidden dangers for construction works

- Handling underground cracks, mixed material blocks to prevent erosion of dykes, dams and coastal land strips;

- Application of biotechnology, chemical protection and anti-cavitation for irrigation works and equipment;

- Applying new technologies to survey, detect and handle hidden hazards in dikes and dams, detect hidden objects in historical - cultural relics, survey and evaluate stratigraphic structures;

6. Design and construction consultancy

- Consulting, construction of irrigation, hydropower, traffic, civil and industrial works;

- Designing irrigation works and technical infrastructure;

- Verification of design of irrigation works and technical infrastructure;

- Consulting, surveying and evaluating stratigraphic structure, topographical survey, engineering geology, hidden disasters in dikes, dams, hidden objects in historical - cultural relics;

- Participate in consulting and appraising investment, construction and irrigation projects in accordance with the Construction Law;

During nearly 30 years of construction and development, up to now, the Institute has a staff of more than 100 people, including half of the research staff, of which the number of staff with postgraduate qualifications accounts for nearly 1/3, the rest mostly have university degrees. Scientific topics and projects implemented by the Institute are increasingly diverse; creating important products and technologies for production.
