UTTHAN is a non-political and non-profit non-governmental voluntary social and human rights development organization registered under Section 4 (3) of the Voluntary Social Welfare Organization (Registration and Control) Ordinance No. 46 of 1961 issued by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Although the organization started its journey by educating a number of street children, from social responsibility to government and non-government individuals and organizations, other education, health, nutrition, women's empowerment, adolescent problems, legal aid for the poor, environmental protection, water and sewerage, distance management, Has been conducting various projects to help people with disabilities and the elderly. It has also been conducting public awareness programs to prevent various social ills including violence against women and children, human trafficking and drugs. The Registration Authority is responsible to the approved executives for the planning and implementation of all the activities of the organization. The organization is highly committed to changing the social values, justice, rights, gender inequality, exploitation free society, attitudes and behavior of the old traditional human life of all peoples.

UTTHAN is a reputed, accountable and sincere organization in the Barisal region bordering the river Bangladesh. The organization has skilled manpower and long experience in implementing any project aimed at the development of the poor

UTTHAN works to establish a just society based on values including social justice, human dignity, equality, fairness, good governance, secularism in protecting the rights of the poor and marginalized people living in urban and rural areas. Which works for the welfare of the underprivileged people irrespective of social inequality, persecution, oppression, corruption and race, religion and caste

Mission of our organization

UTTHAN to ensure the participation of all through various projects aimed at safeguarding the basic rights of urban and rural poor and marginalized people. To undertake and manage projects to alleviate poverty and conduct anti-social awareness activities to ensure safe food, clothing, shelter, education and health care for all neglected communities including orphans, street children, transgender and sex worker

Goal of our organization

To help protect the social and economic rights of disadvantaged women, children, adolescents, the disabled and the elderly without relatives in the coastal districts of the Barisal region. Especially women's empowerment, education and rehabilitation of orphans including street children.

Major Objects of our organization

  • Establishing practices for the protection of democracy and human rights.
  • To create public awareness at all levels to establish honesty and accountability.
  • Eliminate poverty by creating an environment for quality education, skills and leadership.
  • To increase public awareness to select suitable representatives for formulating proper policies for the development of the people.
  • To establish a society that respects the human rights of all, especially women, children, the elderly, the disabled and minorities.
  • Facilitate and strengthen the policy dialogue on human rights and good governance.
  • Promoting the movement on food security, climate change and environmental protection.
  • To help the affected people after the telecommunication with awareness.
  • Build bridges between donors, civil society, NGOs and government organizations to promote respect and adherence to international human rights law and international humanitarian law.
