Fondazione Horcynus Orca (Horcynus Orca Foundation)

The Horcynus Orca Foundation was born from the relationship between research institutions, socially and environmentally responsible companies and third sector actors, with the mission of enhancing the Messina Strait area through permanent international paths of cultural, scientific and of the civil economy.

The Foundation is located in the interdisciplinary cultural park of the same name. Like the novel by Stefano D'Arrigo, to whom the Horcynus Orca Park is dedicated, it involves a complex system of knowledge (from marine biology to chaos physics, from natural sciences to archeology, from art to earth sciences, from literature to anthropology) which constitute the grammar and syntax of this millennial space: the scill'e cariddi . It thus represents an innovative bridge between scientific research, technological innovation, creative languages, encounters between cultures, experimentation with solidarity economies, ethically oriented markets and participatory dissemination.

Today there are three main areas of commitment of the Foundation:

• the Pole of Mediterranean Cultures;
• the International Center on Marine and Environmental Science and Technology;
• the Polo for scientific dissemination and cultural and educational tourism .
