Ocean Road Cancer Institute ORCI

Welcome to the Ocean Road Cancer Institute website. This is the platform where we share what the Institute performs in the provision of the cancer care services to our clients as per mandated functions in reference to the act which established the Institute in 1996.

The Ocean Road Cancer Institute is situated in Ilala Dar es Salaam, housed in a building which was built in 1985, the building has a rich history in Tanzania, stretching back in the 19th Century when the German occupied Tanzania and is the cradle of scientific research where Robert Koch performed his research in Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The vision of the Institute is to “be a centre of excellence with national, regional and international reputation in cancer control.”

The mission of the Institute is “To provide high quality cancer control services that are equitable, accessible and affordable through cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, research and training in collaboration with stakeholders”. The provision of cancer care services toward achieving our vision and mission is tremendously executed by professional staff recruited at Ocean Road Cancer Institute as well as remarkable infrastructure for the provision of cancer care services.

The Institute is very proud to exponentially expand in technical capacity, the hospital has already installed state-of-art diagnostic and treatment equipments which enhance the diagnosis and treatments offered at the Institute. Recently, the Institute has procured and installed Linear accelerators, CT Simulator and is on course to procure Cyclotron and PET CT.

There is 100% medicine availability for the patients enhanced by the commitment of the Government of Tanzania for medicine subvention deposited at MSD. To complement the Government efforts, the Institute has established a community pharmacy, where insured and private patients are catered for their medicine needs.
