Association of Ukrainian Cities

ASSOCIATION OF THE CITY OF UKRAINE:

• represents and defends the interests of local self-government in a political dialogue with the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and central executive authorities;
• takes part in the formation of the legislative base of local self-government;
• carries out analytical, monitoring research activities, organizes professional and public discussion of draft laws on local and regional development issues;
• Conducts practical training for employees of local self-government bodies;
• Provides advisory and legal assistance to its members;
• disseminates information on the problems of local self-government, ways of their solution, promotes the reform of local self-government;
• facilitates the exchange of experience and best practices of municipal governance and development;
• collects and generalizes municipal statistics; since 2012 the Automated System of Municipal Statistics is in operation;
• conducts sociological research on topical issues of local self-government activity;
• promotes local economic development, increasing the investment attractiveness of cities and developing public-private partnerships;
• promotes the establishment of twin-city relations between Ukrainian cities and European partners;
• Collaborate with international organizations and projects that work in the field of strengthening local democracy and promoting local self-government;
• is a member of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).
