The details of works to be done by Public Health Engineering Department are as follows:

1. Survey, investigation and implementation of tap water schemes for supply of drinking water in rural areas in safe and prescribed quantity as per the policy and instructions of the state government.

2. Installation and maintenance of hand pumps.

3. Implementation of schemes for supply of pure and safe drinking water in drinking water quality affected areas.

4. Implementation of ground water recharge and augmentation schemes and rainwater harvesting schemes for sustainability of sources of water supply schemes.

5. Monitoring of water quality of drinking water sources.

6. Implementation of ancillary activities.

7. Implementation of water quality monitoring and surveillance program.

8. Implementation of schemes by preparing survey, investigation, planning report of water supply and sewerage schemes on the request of other institutions including urban bodies.
