About

BEDER organisation is a non-profit organization established by a group of civil society activists in the wake of the January 2011 revolution. That transformative moment inspired a generation to rebuild an inclusive nation founded on the principles of respect, dignity, justice, and equal opportunity. Our organization is dedicated to ensuring that the values championed during the revolution are preserved and translated into concrete, transformative, and effective actions.

Our primary goal is to broaden and diversify opportunities for community development in Tunisia. We pursue this mission by enhancing and accelerating the impact of local stakeholders and by nurturing the leadership and community resilience essential for sustained change.

To meet these objectives, BEDER is structured into four specialized thematic departments:

  • Youth and Resilience: Empowering young women and men to actively participate in public life and contribute to community development through social and economic empowerment.
  • Health: Addressing challenges in the healthcare sector through programs that improve the governance of health institutions, enhance access to care, encourage civic engagement in health, and adopt a holistic “One Health” approach—integrating mental health, animal health, climate impact, and antimicrobial resistance.
  • Environment: Increasing public awareness of the severe impacts of climate change on Tunisian agriculture, including drought and water scarcity, through climate education initiatives and targeted support programs to strengthen farmers' economic and social resilience.
  • Education: Promoting social inclusion and equitable access to quality education, while also enhancing the skills of children and youth to facilitate their integration into the workforce through innovative pedagogical approaches and improved vocational training environments.
