Sphere Project / Sphere Standards

Sphere is a non-profit association legally established in Geneva. The current legal entity is the successor of the Sphere Project, founded in 1997 as a time-bound initiative of multiple humanitarian agencies.

Under the direction of the Sphere Project Board, the Sphere Project office works to implement Sphere\'s vision for improved quality and accountability in humanitarian response. Staff include a project manager and five other positions.

The office helps ensure that support services, materials and training opportunities are made available to all interested parties. It links with regional and national networks and represents the Sphere Project to NGOs, UN agencies, donors, academic institutions and other quality and accountability initiatives. It actively promotes the effective use of Sphere principles and standards and supports the development of the community of Sphere practitioners.
