About

Coastal and Marine Resource Development (COMRED) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2006 and registered as a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. COMRED and its associates have been working with the local grassroots communities in Kenya’s coast to empower them to seek local solutions to local problems, improve livelihoods and conserve the environment. We recognize potential and ability of local leadership to lead local initiatives to tackle poverty and manage resources
COMRED is mandated to carry out an array of activities including research, training, community capacity building and environmental conservation among others. We aim to achieve these goals through promotion of research, economic evaluations, participatory approaches, dialogue, advocacy, capacity building, enterprise development, networking and partnerships.
