CEFAD - Centre de Formation et d’Appui au Développement Durable

The Citizen Training and Development Support Center is a non-profit organization formed in 2004 by Haitian professionals who have evolved within international organizations working in Haiti. This work experience with international organizations has enabled the founding members of CEFCAD to realize the need for continuous work in the training of community leaders imbued with democratic values and convinced of the need for the active participation of citizens in the process of sustainable development.
In this sense, CEFCAD programs aim to make citizens able to take initiatives alongside state authorities and development aid organizations. During the last 5 years, these programs have enabled the emergence of initiative committees bringing together the organized sectors of the communal sections. These initiative committees represent reliable partners capable of pooling energies for the realization of development projects.
Faced with the state of emergency caused by the earthquake of January 12, 2010, these committees are mobilized and actively participate in efforts to help victims, together with the local authorities, which makes them the first partners in a chain of solidarity prioritizing direct aid to victims.
