About
The CHBeck publishing house is one of the largest and most renowned houses in the German publishing industry. With over 600 employees and around 1,700 new publications in the two publishing areas of law - taxes - business and literature - non-fiction - science, CHBeck also ranks quantitatively among the major German book and magazine publishers.
In the field of literature - non-fiction - scienceThe main areas of activity range from history with its various branches to religion and philosophy, political and social sciences, literature and linguistics to art and architecture. The forms of presentation are also diverse. Presentations written for a broad, general readership, biographies, illustrated books, popular paperbacks and books on life practice make up the majority of the program, but scholarly special monographs, multi-volume handbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias and textbooks also have their place in the publishing program. Book genres bordering on literature such as essays, autobiographical documents and correspondence are also part of the publishing profile, as are anthologies, poetry collections and editions of literary classics.
The publishing house is particularly active in the fields of history. Antiquity, the Middle Ages, modern times, contemporary history, German and European history, Jewish history, history of the Islamic culture, global history - these are keywords that show the range and some of the focal points of the historical program. The publisher always strives to win the best connoisseurs as authors. Outstanding foreign authors are translated into German. Rows structure the program and give it specific accents.
Whatever topic is taken up, it is a major concern of the publisher to encourage outstanding experts and scientists to make their knowledge, their insights, their awareness of the problem accessible to a wide, non-specifically trained audience. In this respect, CHBeck is a scientific, but not an academic publisher.
