About

Katholieke Universiteit Leuven is represented by KU Leuven Research & Development (‘KU Leuven’).

KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD) is the technology transfer office (TTO) of the KU Leuven Association. Ever since 1972, LRD has been building bridges between science and industry. By launching innovative technologies in society and the commercial market, LRD advances the impact of research results on people’s lives across the globe.

LRD has established an international reputation for collaborating with industry, securing and licensing intellectual property rights, creating spin-off companies and stimulating knowledge-driven regional development. LRD supports researchers throughout the entire knowledge and technology transfer process and helps them to best leverage the societal and economic potential of their research.

KU Leuven is dedicated to education and research in nearly all fields. Its fifteen faculties offer education, while research activities are organized by the departments and research groups. These faculties and departments, in turn, are clustered into three groups: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), and Biomedical Sciences. Each of these groups has a doctoral school for its doctoral training programmes.

KU Leuven boasts fourteen campuses, spread across 10 cities in Flanders.
