About
We have been doing political education work for over 40 years! The Willi-Eichler-Bildungswerk was founded in 1977 by Günter Schlatter and Karl-Heinz Otten, among others, both of whom are still active on our board and board of trustees today. Just like the first managing director Hans Walter Schulten. At that time we even had our own training center in Bad Münstereifel, which had to be closed in 1999. To date, more than 60,000 participants have attended our seminars. In 2015, the Willi-Eichler-Bildungswerk merged with the Association for Political Education and Information Bonn e. V. (VPI Bonn) and became the Willi-Eichler-Akademie e. V.. The association is responsible for the educational institution of the same name.
Named after Willi Eichler and arose from the tradition of employee training institutes, the basic values of social democracy are still our guiding principles: freedom, equality and solidarity. As a player in political education, we also see ourselves as part of an international, progressive movement that is clearly committed to human rights and takes a clear stand against racism, anti-Semitism and any kind of discrimination and misanthropy.
