About

Belarusian UNESCO clubs appeared in 1989. They were not created spontaneously, like the first UNESCO Clubs in a worldwide movement, but found on the international friendship clubs which had been operating for many years in Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic.

The main initiator and inspirer of the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs creation became the chairman of the Belarusian Peace Fund, Ambassador for Peace - Egorov Marat Fedorovich. His initiative was supported by the Ministry of Education of BSSR, the Friendship Society, and of course, by the international friendship clubs.
