WEMA is a registered community based organisation which was established in the year 2013. The organisation is a nonprofit organisation which is registered by ministry of culture and social services. Wema Community Center Organisation (WCCO) is a registered community based organisation which was established in the year 2013. The organisation is a nonprofit organisation which is registered by ministry of culture and social services. The organization was formed by a group of intellectuals who seeked to respond positively to the everyday challenges faced by women and children by supporting them to overcome poverty in their communities. WCCO mission is to enhance quality of life for women and children in less privileged communities by providing basic education, livelihood trainings and raising awareness on GBV and other rights
The group will concentrate on implementing promotion of education, Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), vocational skills and awareness and advocacy on HIV/AIDS and related diseases and the environment and providing skills training on income generating activities, youth and peace building and resolution. The organization will work closely with the society and other likeminded people.
In implementing its programs, WEMA utilizes an integrated gender and rights based approach. Integrated learning means, relating education to the real lives of girls and women in the society. A right based approach means recognizing girls and women as rights bearers. Learners under WEMA’s programs are therefore taught self-awareness education encompassing issues such as Management of Maturation Process (as health and human rights issues), HIV/AIDS, Women’s Rights, gender and participation in development, FGM, primary and community health, peace, democracy and reconciliation and environmental education.

• To strengthen the capacity of women to seek, defend and advocate for their fundamental rights in all spheres of life and to promote education for girls, women, youth and community at large for social and economic development.
