Łukasiewicz – ŁIT started its activity on April 1, 2022. It was established by merging three Łódź-based institutes operating in the Łukasiewicz Research Network: Łukasiewicz – Institute of Biopolymers and Chemical Fibers, Łukasiewicz Institute of Leather Industry and Łukasiewicz – Institute of Textiles.Łukasiewicz – ŁIT implements projects that naturally fit into the current scientific and research activities of the combined institutes. Importantly, the unit also operates in completely new areas available thanks to the combination of unique research potentials.

The core activity of Łukasiewicz – Lodz Institute of Technology is the implementation of research projects and international cooperation in the field of scientific research, development and commercialization.

In addition to its core activities, the Institute carries out:

research projects in the field of scientific research and development works other than those specified in the Network Act
production of unique research equipment and unique materials
operates:
metrological, standardization and certification
in the field of standardization of processes supporting the development of innovation
in the field of popularizing science and knowledge about new technologies
performs conformity assessment
develops prototypes of new technological solutions based on research projects carried out by entities of the higher education and science system
conducts courses and training for staff for the economy
conducts other activities related to the nature of the Network Institute
