About
The Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts took its foundation from the Baku Theater School, which was established in 1923 by the decision of the Azerbaijan Education Commissariat. At that time, Baku Theater School named after MFAkhundov trained actors and directors not only for Azerbaijan, but also for Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Dagestan, Crimea and other regions.
In 1945, the Theater Institute was established on the basis of the Theater School, and since 1968, this higher education institution has been called the Azerbaijan State Art Institute.
In 1991, the Art Institute gained the status of a University.
Currently, this higher school, which operates as the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, has 5 faculties, 21 departments, 21 bachelor's degree and 20 master's degree specialists are trained.
Currently, 2261 undergraduate students, 125 graduate students, doctoral students and dissertation students study at the university. 43 professors and 93 associate professors are employed by a total of 312 teaching staff.
