About
Montroy Andersen DeMarco was founded in 1990 by Dan Montroy and Steven Andersen, who first met in Italy during a study program at the American University of Rome. In the late '80s, Dan offered Steven the opportunity to join him in creating a new firm. Steven agreed, and Montroy Andersen was born.
In 2005, with demand for the firm’s style of service growing, Dan and Steven joined forces with fellow NYIT graduate Richard J. DeMarco, who became the third principal. A veteran architect who was then an associate partner at SLCE Architects, Richard enabled the studio to expand its new buildings practice.
Today, as Montroy Andersen DeMarco, the firm employs over 40 staff and continues to expand. But the early days have had a lasting effect on the firm’s operations. "As principals, we don’t view ourselves as figureheads," says Steven. "We started from the bottom and did everything ourselves, and we’re still intimately involved in each project. That just happens to be the way we do business, and it’s also why our clients come back to us again and again."
