Hate Speech International

Our vision is to elevate the public understanding of extremism as a phenomenon and to increase the overall ability, knowledge and will of media organizations to report on such matters. The primary task in HSI’s first phase is to contribute to the development of research and reporting that elevates the total volume of reporting on hate speech, hate crime and extremism in Europe. Within the two-year period of the pilot project, we will:

Establish a journalistically driven, independent, international network of reporters and academics who investigate, analyse and report on hate speech and hate crime.
Seek to make freedom of speech and the right to information primary weapons against those who violate, or seek to violate, basic human rights through their exploitation of those same freedoms.
