Traidcraft has been operational in India since 1995 through our development programme. Our engagement with small producer collectives, government agencies, public and private companies and foundations continuously broadens our knowledge and deepens our insights into the critical challenges of sustainable development and fair trade in the context of South Asia. It is through this accumulated body of knowledge and expertise, and through constant innovation aimed at transformative change and impact, that we add value to development initiatives and ethical businesses, thereby making our own contribution to society. Our special understanding of the socio-economic context in South Asia and specifically in India, as well as the stage of economic growth in India and the demand for fairer / more ethical trading practices, guided our decision to set up a services company to better respond to emerging needs and opportunities.

Traidcraft Services India was set up in September 2015 as a company and started full-fledged operations in the year 2016-17. Through this firm, Traidcraft Exchange extends significant value to development initiatives in South Asia through its unique capacity to understand both business and development initiatives, and its ability to work with multiple stakeholders (such as small producers, community service organisations (CSOs), private businesses, government institutions), and brings in global best practices in promoting fair trade and responsible business in South Asia.
