Rádio Altitude began regular broadcasts on July 29, 1948 in the city of Guarda and is the oldest local radio in Portugal and one of the pioneers in Europe.

The Radio is, therefore, a historical and emotional heritage of inestimable value for the city of Guarda itself.
On the new platforms, in addition to online broadcasting , Rádio Altitude ensures daily updating of podcast content, making the programs and sections it produces available through this format. He is also actively present on social media.
The oldest local radio in the country thus makes available to everyone the most complete sound recording of the History of Guarda and the Region – which constitutes, in fact, a civic duty for a media outlet with this profile.
In recent years, Rádio Altitude has also consolidated its position as the most listened to local radio in the Guarda district. In the annual report of Marktest's «Bareme Rádio» (the standard study of radio audiences in Portugal) it appears as the most listened to local station in the Guarda district in the three rankings: in the Guarda District; in the Castelo Branco-Guarda-Viseu districts; and in the Northern Interior Region
