About

For the first time in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan in 2015, the “Kyrgyz Association of Women Judges” (KAWJ) was established with the organizational and legal form – Public Association. In the Central Asian region, KAWJ is the only organiation consisting of women judges, retired ex-judges. It’s main mission is to preserve the independence of the judicial system, increase it’s role in protecting the rights of citizens, and ensure equal and fair access to justice for all persons, especially vulnerable groups, in order to achieve justice and equality.

The women judges who initiated the creation of such an organization considered it right that judges, as representatives of the judiciary, should contribute to ensuring that everyone has access to justice, especially vulnerable groups.

Main goals
01 Helping to improve access to justice for women, minors, persons with disabilities, the elderly and other vulnerable groups;

02 Assistance in building the rule of law and participation in creating conditions for the full observance of human rights;

03 All-round assistance to judicial and legal reform;

04 Assistance in strengthening the rule of law and enhancing the status of judges of the Kyrgyz Republic;
