About
Our educational project began in 1982 with the creation of the Blas Cañas Professional Institute of Higher Studies, an institution born with the solid support of Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez.
In 1990 the Ministry of Education approved its operation as Blas Cañas University and in 1993 the Episcopal Conference of Chile recognized it as Catholic, joining the Salesian Congregation of Chile as active members of the institution.
In 1999, after the modification of its general statutes, the Salesians took charge of the upper management of the campus and the change of name to Cardenal Raúl Silva Henríquez Catholic University was authorized. Four years later it obtained its full autonomy and in 2006 the Episcopal Conference transferred all the management of the University to the Salesian Congregation.
During these 40 years of experience, the Cardenal's dream has been materializing under the values and principles of an accredited, inclusive and transcendent educational project, which is committed to academic excellence in each of its undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education programs. .
