Green-Basilisk B.V. - Basilisk Self-Healing Concrete

Basilisk Self-Healing Concrete was developed at TU Delft and is based on an autonomous repair system that works with limestone-producing micro-organisms (bacteria). When the bacteria come into contact with oxygen and moisture, they convert certain nutrients into calcium carbonate (limestone). This means that maintenance to repair or restore the concrete is not required. The concrete continues to repair itself. Whenever a crack occurs, the microorganisms repair it autonomously.
