About

The Park Authorities are the public administrations that manage the Italian national parks. Provided for by the "Framework Law on protected natural areas" n. 394 of 6 December 1991 , fall within the sector of non-economic public bodies as defined by Law no. 70 of 20 March 1975. The Park Authority has public law status, legal and administrative headquarters in the park area and is subject to the supervision of the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea.

The Park Authority works in concert with the subjects of the public administration that act on the territory. It deals with the administrative structures of the Municipalities on a local scale, for specific thematic competences such as those on wildlife management it has close relationships with the provincial administrations and regularly confronts the administration of the Tuscany Region. Continuous relations exist with the offices of the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea (General Directorate for Natural Heritage and General Directorate for the Sea and Coasts). More generally, the activity of the Park Authority involves contacts with the numerous institutions involved in scientific research, environmental monitoring, management of public assets, soil protection, education, commerce and tourism, with the school world. The Park Authority interacts with the world of manufacturing companies, with social organizations, with the press. In ordinary and extraordinary management, interventions often occur which extend to the sphere of private initiative and which involve particular categories of citizens as collaborators as well as users.

The bodies of the Organization are : the President , the Board of Directors , the Executive Committee , the Board of Auditors , the Community of the park .

The Tuscan Archipelago National Park is considered the largest marine park in the Mediterranean because it includes seven islands, numerous islets and rocks that emerge in a large stretch of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the heart of the great Cetacean Sanctuary, Pelagos, instituted as an international protected marine area in 1999.
