About
At the Institute for Trauma Processing, the focus is on families and their resources and problems in a variety of ways. We come to us from family systems that are heavily burdened and whose options for dealing with their problems have been exhausted. These can be: Highly contentious parents who lose sight of the child's well-being due to their destructive couple conflicts, parents who are only allowed to see their children under protected conditions initially or in the long term due to situations that endanger the child's well-being, such as escalating disputes, suspicion or proven abuse or mistreatment, or parents whose ability to understand and regulate their own emotional states, as well as to understand and respond to the needs, feelings, and desires of their children, is limited.
We address these family problems with various interventions and diagnostic methods. It is important to emphasize that all questions and measures regarding handling, bonding, parents' ability to raise children, etc. are always viewed from the perspective of the child's best interests. From a family law psychology perspective, the child's well-being is to be understood as “the relationship between his needs and his living conditions that is favorable for the personality development of a child or young person” (Dettenborn & Walter, 2002).
