French Office for Immigration and Integration - OFII

The organization in charge of the migratory flow has continued to change its name. The SSAE replaces the IMO. And in 2005, the National Agency for the Reception of Foreigners and Migration (ANAEM) was created. Finally, the Sarkozy government decided to set up a single operator, the French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII) in 2009.

The OFII is today the primary contact for the reception, support and integration of foreigners. It has been operating under the supervision of the Directorate General for Foreigners in France of the Ministry of the Interior since 2010.

The missions of the OFII are as follows:

• Reception and support for asylum seekers
• Management of regular immigration procedures (family, professional) alongside or on behalf of prefectures and diplomatic consular posts
• The reception and integration of immigrants authorized to stay long-term in France and as such signatories of a republican integration contract with the State
• Assistance with the voluntary return and reintegration of foreigners at the end of their rights and in an irregular situation, in their country of origin
• The issuance of the medical opinion as part of the procedure for authorization to stay for care.
