The municipality of Mnihla has been established as a result of the Government Decree No. 2016-600 of May 26, 2016, relating to the creation of new municipalities in the governorates of Ariana, Ben Arous, Sidi Bouzid, Gabes, Medenine, Gafsa and Kebili. The municipality is created of a split of the municipality of Ettadhamen-Mnihla.
