About
Burundi Bureau of Standards and Quality Control "BBN" was established in 1992 to promote Standardization, Quality Assurance Metrology and Testing work in Burundi to support economic development, quality inspections of goods and protection of environment.
BBN is a government agency to provide services in standardization by developing, adopting and adapting national standards, in Quality Assurance, certification, inspection, conformity assessment Metrology and Testing. A year after its creation, the country entered into a socio-political crisis that has negatively affected its expansion. With the return of peace, renewed attention is born from the Government and development partners to enable the standard bureau to meet the requirements of agreements concluded at regional and international level.
In the spirit of co-operation and mutual interest to enhance and strengthen technical cooperation in the fields of Standardization and Conformity Assessment, BBN has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
