Instituto Caro y Cuervo

The Caro y Cuervo Institute aims to promote and develop research, teaching, advice and dissemination of the languages of the national territory and its literatures, with a view to strengthening their use and recognition based on their social prestige and aesthetic value. . To this end, the Caro y Cuervo Institute advises the Colombian state and contributes to the development of policies to strengthen the conservation of the Nation's intangible heritage. Likewise, it preserves, compiles, publishes and distributes written and audiovisual documents, as well as elements of material heritage, to contribute to the conservation of the history of Colombian culture. - The Andrés Bello Seminar Faculty is the teaching unit of the Caro y Cuervo Institute. It was founded in 1957 as the Andrés Bello Center according to resolution XX of the tenth Inter-American Conference of Caracas and subsequent agreement with the Organization of American States. From the beginning its purpose was to train researchers and promote higher education programs in the fields of Spanish phonetics, historical grammar, etymology, lexicology and linguistics in general of Latin American literature and culture. Until 1980, the Andrés Bello Seminary Faculty granted specialization degrees and between 1983 and 2004 it offered two Master's programs: one in Hispanic Linguistics and the other in Latin American Literature. It currently offers continuing education programs and these five master's degrees: Master in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign and Second Language Master in Creative Writing Master in Editorial Studies Master in Linguistics Master in Literature and Culture
