The Ombudsman's Office of Colombia (Defensoría del Pueblo)

The Ombudsman's Office is the Colombian State institution responsible for promoting the effectiveness of human rights of the inhabitants of the national territory and of Colombians abroad, within the framework of the democratic, participatory and pluralistic Social Rule of Law, through the following integrated actions: Promote, exercise and disseminate human rights. Protect and defend human rights and prevent their violations. Promote observance of international humanitarian law. Attend to, guide and advise in the exercise of their rights. Provide access to the administration of justice, in the cases indicated in the Law.
