Water Witness International

Water Witness International was founded in 2008 to ensure a better deal for the poor in the way water resources are managed.  We champion greater accountability and improved performance in the way that communities, governments, NGOs, businesses and international donors deal with water resources. Water Witness’s vision is of a world where: freshwater is managed equitably and sustainably to ensure the reliable availability of water for health, livelihoods and production, and an acceptable level of water related risk.

WWI is guided by the following values and beliefs:

• people in developing countries must be empowered to solve their own problems
• aid must be used transparently and represent good value for money for donors and beneficiaries
• partnerships are essential to solving our water problems
• advocacy, campaigns and policy must be based on evidence and be realistic
• social justice and the rule of law must underpin water management and development
• information must be freely available in a form which is meaningful to those it effects
