About

The Institute of Contemporary Art (in English: Institute of Contemporary Art , abbreviated: ICA ) is located in downtown Dunaújváros . In addition to national exhibitions, it also organizes local and international exhibitions.

The Dunaújváros Photo Biennale is organized at the Contemporary Art Institute. In 1989, following the private initiative of István Birkás and Lajos Takács, the "modern art museum" was launched. The legal successor, the municipality, created the Modern Art Foundation MMA (from 1994, the Public Foundation for Modern Art). "Since 1997, the new building - Following the plans of the architect Péter Juhász from Dunaújváros, the two exhibition spaces form a unified institution with the Uitz hall. The well-executed postmodern entrance hall and the interior are in any case separated by a real chasm from the "once-existing social modern" environment." The new, two-story building was completed in the fall of 1997. The exhibitions were organized by Gyula Várnai and Nóra Deák in the former Uitz Hall. The art collection of the public foundation is made up of materials deposited by the Layota Art Studio and the Uitz Room, which is owned by Lajos Takács.
