About
CIRES was founded in 1960 with five Portuguese and two Japanese companies as shareholders, which constituted the first post-war Portuguese-Japanese industrial venture in Europe.
In Portugal, during the initial period of development of the plastics processing industry, CIRES immediately assumed the role of the main lever for the progressive growth in PVC consumption, contributing to the consolidation and development of the company's activity and the sector.
In 2009, the company's full integration into one of its original shareholders, Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. , aimed to expand CIRES' development potential and reinforce Shin-Etsu's tripolar system: Japan, the United States of America and Europe.
Shin -Etsu is today the world leader in the sector with a manufacturing capacity of around 10% of global consumption.
CIRES has consolidated its leading position in the Iberian market, offering a diverse range of PVC polymers manufactured using the suspension process, used in multiple industrial sectors with relevance in the construction segment. At the same time, CIRES also offers a range of specialties with differentiating properties, including a portfolio of PVC products from the emulsion process for plastisols, especially for coating applications, particularly in the automotive sector.
The range of specialties in thermoplastic raw materials is completed through its associates in the area of PVC compounds and other thermoplastics, namely PREVINIL based in Alverca-Portugal and CYGSA , based in Mendávia-Spain.
These companies consolidate and are the common core of CIRES' development strategy, contributing to the development of PVC application markets and ensuring presence in practically all thermoplastic application segments.
With specialized technical staff, CIRES pays particular attention to the motivation and satisfaction of its employees, providing suitable working conditions and the necessary training for the full development of their potential.
