William & Lily Foundation

The William & Lily Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded in 2009 by Edwin and Joyce Soeryadjaya to carry on the philanthropic legacy of their parents, William and Lily Soeryadjaya. At age 12, William and his five siblings lost both of their parents in the same year. As the two eldest siblings, William and his elder sister took on the responsibility of becoming the emotional and financial backbone of their family much earlier than expected. It was this formative experience that forever shaped in William a great sense of compassion and altruism. This continued to be a strong theme throughout his life, and even marked the beginning of his relationship with his lifelong partner, Lily. William and Lily had first met while they were both volunteers at the local Red Cross. Giving support and opportunities to those in more challenging circumstances has been a crucial part of both their lives. It is a value that has been passed on to the next generations and until today, remains to be a guiding principle for the family.
