About
The Agency for Renewable Resources e. V. (FNR) is the promoter of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). It was set up in 1993 on the initiative of the Federal Government with the proviso of coordinating research, development and demonstration projects in the field of renewable raw materials.
The statutory purpose of the FNR is to make an effective and continuous contribution to the development and use of renewable raw materials, in particular taking into account competition for use, direct and indirect land effects, biomass conversions and partial and overall sustainability concepts.
The funding program "Renewable Resources" of the BMEL sets the rules for this. The funding for the implementation of the program is available from the federal budget. In addition, the FNR manages projects from the jointly by BmEL and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) supported forest climate fund .
Main task of the FNR is the professional and administrative supervision of research projects for the use of renewable raw materials. Up-to-date specialist knowledge on the subject is collected and is available via publications to interested scientists, private individuals, politicians, business and media representatives. FNR also draws attention to the potential of renewable raw materials through fairs and exhibitions. The coordination of EU projects rounds off their activities at European level.
