About

The Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) is Germany’s central point of reference for civilian expertise for international peace operations. On behalf of the Federal Government of Germany and the Bundestag, ZIF recruits and trains German civilian personnel for international peace operations and international election observation missions. Currently ZIF has about 160 experts deployed to international peace operations of the European Union (EU), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations (UN) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Besides its recruiting and training activities, ZIF offers information and advice to national and international decision makers on current and future trends in international peace operations. It promotes and facilitates policy and method development, research activities and knowledge management as well as capacity building.
