The transmission sector is recognized as HV technology, energy efficiency and turnkey solutions (AC, DC and FACTS) top provider in Brazil with global excellence centres in instrument transformers and shunt reactors, and has important references on turnkey projects.
In the rail transport sector, its contribution is attested with products and services in most passenger operators, such as São Paulo Metro, Rio de Janeiro Metro, Brasília Metro and, over the past five years, it has been implementing technological solutions for freight transport operators such as Vale.

Present in Brazil for more than 60 years, Alstom has reached a moment of transformation in its business strategy. From now on, Alstom is focused exclusively on transport.

Alstom has built a history based on effective participation in the development of the country’s infrastructure, contributing to social progress and respecting the environment. In Brazil, Alstom has contributed its products and services to most passenger operators, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Brasília Metro.

The company had worked with power generation and transmission, participating in large projects.

Now focusing exclusively on the transport market – an area in which the company has been working for 20 years in Brazil – Alstom relies on around 1,500 employees and 4 units throughout the country, and works towards ethical job creation and the realization of the changes that intelligent urban mobility needs.

In Brazil, Alstom manages complete rail transport projects, including rolling stock, signalling, infrastructure and maintenance services. It is a world reference in tramways, metros, suburban trains, and very high speed trains.

Alstom built a story of 60 years in Brazil, and now we come to a moment of transformation, focusing on the rail segment. One of our main goals is to show that we will maintain the commitment with the technological development that marked our story, but with a new vision of the future, putting all our efforts into a single segment of operation. This will allow us to be even closer to our customers, detecting their needs for the better mobility of the passengers they serve.

Alstom is the only company in the segment which has 4 units installed in Brazil, generating employment to around 1,500 people who are committed to the execution of an ethical, serious and pioneer work. It is not by chance that we were chosen the best manufacturer for passengers by Ferroviária magazine and that 1 out of 5 metro cars in operation was made by Alstom Brazil, which makes us very proud.

Today, focused on rail transport, Alstom will continue its operations with high quality. More than ever, the company wants to support the country, which is in great need of investments in infrastructure to smart transport systems. Especially because in Alstom there is the will, knowledge and opportunities to develop and deliver sustainable solutions for urban mobility.
