The Sienno commune is located in the south of the province. Masovian Voivodeship in Lipsk County. The distance to Warsaw is approx. 160 km, to Radom approx. 50 km, to Leipzig 18 km. and to Ostrowiec Św. in the province Świętokrzyskie approx. 18 km. The commune has good connections with the roads: Warsaw - Rzeszów and Warsaw - Kraków through Sandomierz.
The commune covers an area of 147 km 2 , of which approximately 30 km 2 is covered by forests.
The commune is inhabited by approximately 5,900 inhabitants in 36 villages. The seat of the commune authorities is the town of Sienno.

The history of Sienna dates back to at least the 14th century. Approx. The first wooden church was built in 1375, and Sienno belonged to the Chotcze parish. In the years 1431-1441, on the site of the burned church, a brick one in the neo-Gothic style was built, founded by Dobiesław Oleśnicki, and consecrated by Bishop Zbigniew Oleśnicki, establishing the Siena parish. This church was partially destroyed during World War I and then rebuilt. It is a wonderful example of neo-Gothic sacred architecture.

Sienno obtained city rights around 1430, but lost them after the January Uprising in 1869.

The area around the village of Jawor Solecki was the site of fighting in the January Uprising and the place of the death of Dionizy Czachowski.

Fr spent several years in Sienna. prof. W. Sedlak contributed to the creation of secondary schools functioning to this day just after World War II. In the secondary school in Sienna, a memorial room dedicated to Fr. prof. W. Sedlak, where you can see many interesting exhibits.

The Sienno commune is an agricultural commune with an increasingly intensive development of fruit crops.

 

Sienna's attraction is the Market Square, renovated with funds from the European Union, which looks especially nice after dark.
