The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports performs administrative and professional tasks related to:

• professional, timely and efficient performance of work and tasks,
• rational organization of activities and successful management of organizational units of the Ministry,
• achieving full cooperation of the Ministry with other ministries, offices, institutions and organizations in the Canton and beyond,
• timely review, recording and resolution of issues in the field of education, science, culture and sports,
• preschool and elementary education, secondary, higher and higher education,
• maintaining the register of educational institutions of preschool education, primary and secondary education,
• monitoring and improvement of pupil and student standards,
• monitoring the situation and improving the performance of activities in the field of culture,
• monitoring and supporting athletes and sports associations of interest to the Canton,
• supervision over the legal performance of educational institutions,
• taking all necessary measures in order to protect human rights and freedoms established in Article II.A. (1-7) of the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Annex to the Constitution,
• resolution of administrative matters within the competence of the Ministry,
• inspection supervision over the work of educational institutions,
• resolution in the second degree from its authority,
• preparation of laws and other regulations from its scope,
• performs other tasks within its scope of law and other regulations.
