The Door

The Door was founded by the generous support of the Norwegian people through the Norwegian Aid organization (Norsk Nodhjelp) in 1996. With the changes and adaptation to the new law, The Door was re-registered as a center in the Tirana District Court with decision number 123/1 dated 20. 04. 2007. Since the beginning of its activity, The Door has been an open door for all people and institutions in need in the Shkodra region, in northern Albania. It has always worked with children and their families in its focus. In its beginnings, The Door has donated aid to families and various institutions in Shkodra in cooperation with other organizations from Norway. Since 1999, The Door has expanded its activities and now has a significant number of volunteers and employees on its staff. It was precisely the Kosovo crisis that The Door responded to immediately by assisting with food and hygiene aid as well as social services for children traumatized by the war in Kosovo.
