About
The Ecumenical Committee for Social Development (CEDES) is a Mozambican non-profit religious organization that was formed in 1996 by the Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) and the Cartas Mozambique as a result of transformation of the former Repatriation, Resettlement, and Rehabilitation (RRR) program conceived for Mozambican refugees who had fled to the neighbouring countries as a result of the 16 years’ civil strife that ended with the signing of Peace Agreement of 1992. CEDES was regally registered in 1994 and symbolizes the unique ecumenical expression for practicable sustainable development initiatives in Mozambique. It is an umbrella organization that brings together the Catholic Church, Anglican, Methodist church, Presbyterian Church, etc. Though based in Maputo, CEDES is a national Network due to its three provincial offices throughout the three regions of Mozambique.
