Karamoja Rights Advocates Network (KRANET) is a non-profit indigenous organization established in 2022 with the specific purpose of mitigating the rising surge in human rights abuses, violations and civil unrest that had taken  greater toll in the all of Karamoja region and to contribute to meaningful protection human rights defenders, activists, local media personalities and Human Rights focused CSOs in Karamoja. KRANET was registered as company limited by guarantee with registration number 80034009995239 in 2023. Operating at the grassroots level, we harness community efforts to safeguard the environment and bolster the credibility of Grassroots Human Rights Defenders across Karamoja, Uganda.

Objectives

1) To strengthen the security and capacities of Grassroots Human Rights Defenders within the grassroots to promote the respect and promotion of Human Rights in Karamoa and Uganda as a whole

2) To conduct research, monitoring, documentation and reporting human rights abuses and violations in Karamoja

3) To eliminate all forms of violence, discrimination against girls and women everywhere in Karamoa and Uganda as a whole

4) To be a human rights focused organization keen at the observance of human rights, good governance and accountability within the communities of Karamoja while adhering to the notion and principles of social justice

5) To participate meaningfully in the implementation, reporting of and on the Universal periodic review as a way of giving recommendations for and about human rights in Uganda as a large

6)   To mitigate the gender injustices that takes place in the communities/districts of Karamoja, Uganda and doing all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of those objectives.

7) To provide support and care to victims of torture by providing rehabilitation, counselling services and other community based remedial services.
