Health[e]Foundation was founded in the Netherlands in 2003 by Prof. Dr. Fransje van der Waals with the belief that healthcare professionals all over the world require accurate and state-of-the-art information. Health[e]Foundation started out with one course: HIV[e]Education, which was offered as a blended learning program. Over the years, the organization has grown and broadened its scope: it now offers educational programs on a range of topics in various formats; and educates the community as well as healthcare professionals. There are critical shortages of healthcare workers in most areas where Health[e]Foundation works. We therefore use innovative technologies – such as distance on- and offline learning and mobile health – to facilitate learning, without the need to leave clinics unattended. Participants can study at their own pace and in their own time, even in the most remote areas.
